Going to Black Hawk|Once there|Reason to stay

Starting the journey!

It was always my dream to go to college and become something of myself, and now that half my kids are grown and gone I got the opportunity to do just that. My experience at Black Hawk College has had it's ups and downs. At the beginning it was quite a struggle for me to get started. I had no clue who to talk to or where to go or what to even do to sign up. And with me being disabled and not being able to drive to the Quad City campus that made it quite a challenge for me. It took me several months to get things started, and initially I was only going to take one class. I started out wanting to take Web Page Development. I wanted to take this class so that I could run my own small business web site and not have to pay someone to run it for me.

One thing I did not know at the beginning of my journey was all I had to do was go to Black Hawk and fill out the application and registration forms and get the ball rolling. Once this is done then you go to the Black Hawk Catalog and Course Description pages and them pages will tell you everything you want to know about every course Black Hawk has to offer you.

Then once you figure out what classes you want to take then go to Advising and that page will tell you how to get in touch with the advisors and they will help you get everything set up so that none of your classes will conflict with each other, and they will help you understand if you need any prerequisites and they will also tell you where and when you take the compass test.
